In addition to providing a host of continuing education courses for real estate professionals, the REALTOR® Institute offers several programs that lead to professional designations offered through the National Association of REALTORS® or other specialty councils. Designation courses provide:
- skills training in a particular area of real estate practice
- add prestige to enhance your professional image
- increase your marketability and productivity
- expand referral networks
See below for requirements to earn the GRI designation.
Graduate, REALTOR® Institute, a National Association of REALTORS’® designation, is awarded by state REALTOR® associations to REALTORS® who have completed a 90-hour prescribed program of study that includes practical real estate training for the residential specialist.
In Mississippi the GRI program is provided only through the Mississippi REALTOR® Institute and the designation can be used only by members of the local, state and National Association of REALTORS®.
The Mississippi REALTOR® Institute’s GRI program also includes a path to two additional designation courses: Accredited Buyer Representative (ABR) and Seller Representation Specialist (SRS).
The Mississippi GRI program consists of three courses entitled GRI I, II and III. REALTORS® who have previously met their Salesperson’s Post-license requirement may be exempt from completing GRI I by taking and passing the GRI I Challenge Exam and paying a processing fee of $100. There are also designation courses than can be completed instead of GRI III. Those courses are listed under the GRI III course description.
